Please watch the below link using your lap top and head phones. It is 50 minutes long so I don't expect you to watch all of it (just up to 30 mins) then attempt the questions.



Questions on BBC Documentary The Human Body: Raging Teens

You can write in bullet points but try to be detailed.


1.     Why do humans go through puberty?

2.  What similar experiences do boys and girls have during puberty?

3. What are the differences between boys and girls puberty experiences?

4. What are the best and most difficult events during puberty?

5. Which develops first – emotional or physical development?

6. What effect does this have on developing teens?

7. Apart from emotional development, what other qualities do humans acquire in their development towards maturity?


8. What factors, both societal and biological, cause teams to have feelings of anger towards authority figures such as parents, teachers etc.?     



Once you have finished this, get in to pairs or three's and discuss the following 3 points. Write your cooperative answers down and then share them with the rest of the group during the last 10 mins of the lesson if there is time.

1. Puberty is often referred to as a “roller coaster ride”. In 2 paragraphs, debate whether this metaphor accurately represents the difficulties, challenges and rewards of the human development toward adulthood.

2. Human beings are considered unique in that we spend a larger portion of our lives as children than most species do. Why do YOU think human beings require such a long childhood for their survival.

3. There is more to being an adult than having an adult body. What other qualities do human beings acquire in their development toward maturity?
